Arrived in Venice after a "fun" detour getting here. The road to the A12 was blocked
with landslide clean up. There was a sign pointing up a side road. I'm thinking this
is better than Germany where they just close the road and say good luck with your
detour. We head up the road and the GPS immediately starts trying to get us to turn around.
The road is pretty narrow and steep, but no problem. Then it gets more narrow and more steep
until my mirror is 2" from a rock wall and bush's are brushing the other side and I can only
use first gear because it will not pull it in second. We finally get to a small town and I
think you must be able to drive to here because they have cars. The GPS keeps pointing us
down road just big enough to get our Fiat through. We finally make it out and onto the
A12.

Another day of walking around the Cinque Terre. Took a boat to Riomaggiore and then a train
back stopping a each town. Corniglia was way up on a cliff and was quite a hike up. Most of
of the lower part of Vernazza is almost all rebuilt after the flood of Oct 2011. Monterosso
Al Mare has been our home base and we are staying were Hershel has stayed which was recommend
by his cousin Sherry.
Pics did not post the first time so here they are!

We spent over 5hrs at Pompeii yesterday so we did not get to our Amalfi coast bus ride so we did it this morning. Two things: It was a beautiful ride and I am glad I did not drive it. After that we headed up the A1 to Tuscany. It was getting late and we needed a hotel room. We were not expecting much, hopefully clean maybe a bite to eat. We ended up in truck stop. But it is a Italian truck stop. With great homemade food, wine, nice rooms and friendly staff. Here are just a few pics of the ride over to Amalfi.
